Atasu Group Becomes Patron of the “Müsinder” Exhibition in Almaty Museum of Arts

Atasu Group supported the exhibition “Müsinder: Sculpture in Kazakhstan from the 1950s to the Present Day”, which opens on 8 September at the Almaty Museum of Arts (ALMA).

Supporting cultural projects is part of Atasu Group’s social agenda. We have been working in Kazakhstan for 28 years and we believe it is important to help sustain the cultural heritage of our country.

“Atasu Group connects countries. Building a reliable route is one thing,but cultivating a human connection is the key. That’s why we supported this exhibition. It presents seventy years of Kazakhstani sculpture and the story of our country as it has changed and evolved,” says Marat Zhuman, the founder of Atasu Group.

Müsinder is set to be the largest research project in recent decades on Kazakhstani sculpture. The exhibition will bring together 50 works, including pieces by Soviet-era artists and experiments by contemporary creators. Among them are Khakimzhan Nauryzbayev, Isaac Itkind, Erkin Mergenov, Rysbek Akhmetov, Moldaqul Narymbetov and AïdaAdilbek

The Kazakh word “müsin” has a dual meaning: it refers both to “sculpture” and to “the human figure”. Through the human figure, artists reflect on memory, family, history, national identity and the changes Kazakhstan has experienced over the past seventy years.

The exhibition will be the highlight of the one-year anniversary of ALMA’s opening and will run until May 2027.

The museum will also publish an illustrated catalogue in Kazakh, Russian and English, featuring scholarly texts by the exhibition’s curator Dr. Aliya de Tiesenhausenand art historians Valeriya Ibrayeva and Alexandra Tsay.
